Dear guests, on this day tour you will see the following:

Charming landscapes on the Grand Pearl Cruise boat trip to the old royal city of Ayuttaya; Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, Viharn Phra Monkol Bopit; Wat Mahathat; Summer - Residence in Bang Pa-In.

Our licensed tour guide will either meet you at the meeting point Sathorn Pier Saphan Taksin which we will inform you about, or he will pick you up at your hotel depending on your booking.

Chao Praya River

After our guide has picked you up, we can start the tour reliably and safely. The journey continues to the City River Pier, where you begin your cruise to Ayutthaya on one of the most important waterways in Thailand. The Royal Chao Praya River also called Mae Nam, where Mae is the mother and Nam is the water, is the lifeline of Thailand as it is one of the most important main transport routes. In earlier times, goods delivered by sea were transported by boat from Bangkok to Ayuttaya and further inland on the river. In earlier times, when there were no machines, the wooden boats with their load were laboriously pulled up the river with ropes. On the river trip you will see green landscapes and diverse fauna and flora.

Wat Phra Sri Sanphet

Upon arrival, our air-conditioned van is already waiting to take us to our first destination, the impressive Wat Phra Sri Sanphet. This once royal temple was used exclusively for important royal ceremonies. In 1767, the Burmese army conquered the capital of Ayutthaya and almost completely destroyed the Wat Phra Sri Sanphet complex. The three chedis were destroyed almost to the ground and were rebuilt in 1957. With the destruction of Ayuttaya, the capital of Siam was abandoned and moved to Thonburi, where King Taksin the former general then ruled. Then it's off to lunch, with a mix of Thai traditional dishes prepared for you by our tour guide.

Viharn Phra Mongkol Bopit

An impressive building is the Viharn Phra Mongkol Bopit, which houses a large bronze-cast statue of Buddha. Originally, the statue stood outside the palace to the east. King Rama VI commissioned its restoration in 1920 and it was then moved indoors for protection. Our next destination is Wat Mahathat. Built in the 14th century in traditional Khmer style, the temple is a popular tourist attraction. The main reason is the legendary stone Buddha head entwined with roots. Although almost completely destroyed in the mid-1700s, this ancient landmark was restored in 1950. The ruins probably date from the late 17th to late 18th century.

Wat Mahathat

Wat Mahathat with its stone Buddha head growing into the tree is probably one of the most famous images from this "Ancient City". This wat, with its seven chedis arranged one above the other, was the spiritual centre and was partly built in the Khmer style. Here you can also clearly see from the tree branches how high the water was during the floods. Ayutthaya is more or less affected by floods almost every year, especially in the rainy season when the water comes from the north. In order to pay the Buddha the necessary respect, the visitor approaches only in a bowed posture. This is the practice of the Buddhists, so tourists should also show this respect.

Bang Pa-In

Our last sight on this breathtaking tour is the magnificent Royal Summer Palace in Bang Pa-In, which has been used for recreational purposes and for events by the royal family. The residence is located on a small island in the Chao Phraya River. King Prasat Thong saw the light of day here. Originally, the complex was built in 1632. The present royal palace dates from the reign of King Chulalongkorn (1868-1910), with most of the buildings constructed between 1872 and 1889. The residence was used as a summer residence and venue for the royal family. After this interesting excursion, we drive you back to Bangkok by air-conditioned van.
