Information about Longtail Boat Klong Tour Thonburi

Dear guests, please note that the piers in the Chao Praya River are all designed for large express boats and hotel shuttle boats. The traditional longtail boats are smaller and therefore there is a height difference to the pier that has to be overcome when boarding and disembarking. Depending on the pier, this can be as much as 50 to 80 cm. Millions of visitors have to climb into the boats in this way. This means that some assistance may be needed when getting out of the boat. When getting into the boat, people may touch the pier if they are not careful. You are responsible for any soiling, injuries or damage, and we cannot be held liable.

As a visitor to Bangkok, you should take a beautiful and impressive klong tour in conjunction with the Bangkok tour or as a private guide tour to see life along the klong and to get an idea of how the locals used the branching klongs as a transport route. The special thing about us is that we don't fill up the boat with other guests, as is so common, but you enjoy the private tour in a cosy atmosphere and you travel with us through the colourful canals. In the klong, you see life on the river, sometimes small boats with market women waiting for customers to advertise their souvenirs. The general opinion is that many say this is just mass tourism, but this is not the case if you take the right route and not just into the tourist canal.

However, one should not forget that these market women have to feed a large family partly with this money. Whether you buy a souvenir or not is of course up to you. On the way, there is also the one or other opportunity to try a traditional dish. On the way, you will see beautiful temples built directly on the Klong. One or the other monitor lizard can be seen lying in the sun. So that you can take close-up pictures of these animals, we will of course drive with you as close as possible. We also stop so that you can feed fish in the temple area. Fish are constantly fed in the temple area, which is why there are so many here, because they are also not fished there for religious reasons.

Wat Khun Chan is one of the most beautiful temples on Khlong Dan, as it is diversely designed with a reclining Buddha directly on the Klong and 3 large elephants on which the Buddha sits and below him the black Rahu, of size and beauty it is unique in Thonburi. The immortal Rahu emerged from the lower half of his body as Vihsnu had cut off his head with the discus. As immortal, Rahu was given a place in the sky. Since then, Rahu has pursued the sun and moon to take revenge on them and devour them. Hence, according to Indian mythology, a solar or lunar eclipse occurs as Rahu pursues and devours the sun or moon. When offerings are made to Rahu, they are all black, of course.

You sometimes see the old woman in her own company, patiently painting her coffins with golden paint or how the small boats are moored and loaded at the salt factory. These are also very interesting photo subjects. Along the way you will see the huts of the local people, which look poor and make the difference in society very clear. In some cases, you can look right into the wooden houses as you drive by and see the people in their normal surroundings. The people here are happy, even if they have little to live on. Depending on the weather and the time of day, you can see women washing clothes (which is still done by hand here) or children bathing in the klong and enjoying the cool water.

After a good hour, you come out of the Klong again into the Menam River, the Chao Phraya River. On the way out you will see the old Wichai Prasit Fort with its white walls and guns, which was the checkpoint for incoming ships, and in the back is King Taksin's old Grand Palace. Then we go to the middle of the river and you will see one of the most beautiful temples, Wat Arun from the river.  We drive especially for you to a good position of the River so that you can photograph Wat Arun in full size. An enchanting sight that you will never forget.

The clong tour ends after leaving the clong and you will be brought back to the starting point of the tour.
